CBD (or cannabidiol) is one of the 100+ cannabinoids (chemical compound) found in cannabis plants. It is non-psychoactive (meaning it doesn’t get you high or stoned), can be hemp-based or marijuana-based, and has been growing in popularity due to many people discovering its wide variety of benefits.
While scientific research is still in its infancy (largely due to legality issues), a few of the most commonly cited benefits for CBD include:
- pain relief
- reducing signs of inflammation
- helping you feel less anxious or depressed
You may see while searching the internet other claims about it helping with brain and heart health, diabetes, epilepsy, PTSD, sleeping better, and fighting cancer. But we really want to emphasize again that scientific research on CBD has been limited. We’re not discounting what has been done or anecdotal testimonials, we just believe everyone should educate themselves, check their resources, and draw their own conclusions before believing anything they read on the internet (present blog included). What we will say is we have experienced the benefits of CBD body balms which helped us feel better and we truly believe they can help others feel good as well.
